Meet Lila
Lila Gomes, the owner of Lila’s Tailoring, was born and raised in a small town in Brazil, Governador Valadares (which has the same population as New Zealand). The first time she sat at her mother’s sewing machine she was only 12 years old, and she then went on to get a job in a menswear factory at the age of 14. When she turned 20, she began travelling around Brazil visiting clothing factories and studying dressmaking, particularly menswear.
When she was 26, Lila moved to New Zealand with her family and began working for a premium Auckland tailors. Lila spent 16 years with them, learning about New Zealand fashion and culture.

In her downtime, Lila loves going to the gym, hiking, and walking, while road trips with her family absolutely top her list of favourite things to do. She loves being a mother and no matter how many times she said no to her daughters getting a dog, she of course gave in and now enjoys spending time with the family’s little baby boy Max.
